Moving towards a European Education Area

Although education is mostly national competence, the European Union has started to focus more on the topic than before. When the European Pillar of Social Rights was endorsed by all Member States in 2017, the European Commission also introduced their plans to establish a European Education Area by 2025 for supporting employability and employment, economic growth and social fairness. Some of the planned activities are to support teacher training, language learning, recognition of prior learning and the recognition of diplomas. You can read the original press release here.
